Krista is the founder and owner of Ohana Dance. Her dance experience lies in hula where she trained under the incredible legacy of the late Kumu Hula, Aloha Dalire. Krista has danced, performed, taught, choreographed, and competed for nearly 20 years. Some of her accomplishments include competing in many competitions in California and Hawaii including the prestigious Merry Monarch Festival. Krista also helped train groups and soloists who were awarded many titles and awards in some of the most competitive hula competitions such as Keiki Hula, Ia ‘Oe E Ka La Hula Festival, and Hula ‘Oni E. Some of her fondest memories and most memorable learning experiences were from her travels with her Kumu Hula, hula sisters, and hula brothers to Japan and Tahiti.
In late 2014 Krista decided to pursue her passion in dance and open up a studio that not only offered hula but ballet, contemporary, hip hop, and jazz. She wanted to bring a high quality of technique to the public along with a genuine and approachable staff offering families the total package. After spending may years as a Director of Recruiting, Krista has taken that skill set to hand select a staff that is second to none. She is most proud of the quality of dance instruction that Ohana Dance offers and brings to the South Bay. While the technical training is superior, they also are dedicated to the students and parents of Ohana Dance making this dance studio a warm and welcoming place for all levels and ages of dancers.
